#Translated By: Kyaw Kyaw Linn
#Written By: Rose Queen
A peaceful place among cool hills, that staring cloud sea, that concentrated of beauties, that got the essence of tranquillity and inspired of quiets.....
I made a visit to the place. For me who always had ever seen sea scenes before, everything was different. Fir-trees, snow-covered hills and all sights seeing from my room were very romantic and just like a classic painting.
It is 'Myat-saytaman Traditional Bamboo house', one of the beauty spots in south Shan State. No one would imagine that there is such a place among several hills far away from the city.
However rough the road is, all the tiredness got along the trip will be driven out in the bosom of 'Myat-saytaman' with cute and naturally designed traditional bamboo houses. Not much electrical appliances are there as the place is aided for ecotourism.
And undisturbed natural scenes are the wants of photographers.
If you want to make a trip into the place in your own plan, take a go to Cherry highway station that in the town Aung-pan, South Shan State, and continue to the place by a car or cycle. But if your arrival is in morning only cycle is available.
Please keep in mind not to forget to pack more than a warmer to withstand icy wind. Despite that, don't worry because 'Myat-saytaman' will be welcoming you with hot and yummy 'Shan noodle'. And also bamboo houses will give you a warm. Fresh air mixing fragrance of fir-tree can freshen your tiredness up.
The place is between Hti-thain and Kyauksu, Pa-ai traditional villages located aside Aungpann-Inntain road. Bed rooms are available for one, for two and for a family and may cost from 15000 ks (about $11) to 60000 ks (about $45). Breakfast serviced by the hotel is Shan-rice and Soon-ton soup very fit in with the cold season. For dinner is as you wish. Moreover, something pleasant to you is 'Meetauk' drink (very strong drink) and baked banana, traditional foods.
While in Myat-Saytaman, you can visit into the ancient Shwe-inn-tain pagoda by a car or cycle. The famous pagoda with over 1,000 ancient pagodas had been respectfully constructed by the King Siridahmasawka over AB(Anno Buddha) 200. Then from it, continue to the Phaung-taw-oo pagoda just in 25 minutes by motorboat.
So one day if you will be in Aung-pann or in Kalaw, and you have a usual feeling of staying in high-end hotels, and have a taste for trekking, don't miss that 'Myat-saytaman' is warmly welcoming you.

/ 23-05-2019To Kalaw Heritage, the Landmark of Kalaw or the second oldest hotel in Myanmar
Translated By : Kyaw Kyaw Linn
Written By :HninSiThakhin
Kalaw is a town that will never become commonplace for its visitors and that is always lovely. Having a wide variety of places to visit and a year-round cooling weather makes the small town a mostly visited place. Hearing the name 'Kalaw', a view of a collection of colonial era buildings will appear on one's mind's eye, and you can take a heritage walk to explore these 100-year-old buildings.
Standing several nice-to-stay hotels there adds more interests to visitors to come. Among them, what that causes the charm town much prominent is the Kalaw Heritage, an oldest hotel in it, since 1903. What to be acclaimed is that hotel's buildings, interior designs, and room structures have been under keeping as they were in the colonial era, setting it to have the atmosphere of the era. Second to 'Strand Hotel, Yangon' in age, the hotel is deliberately visited by those who love colonial period's buildings and ancient artworks.
Due to the fact that the hotel is very beautiful and because of its aged buildings, it becomes a movie site to where even outsiders often come and take photos and is also a tourist attraction.
PINE
The name of the reception-included two storey building is 'PINE', built in 1906. It provides 12 rooms upstairs --- 8 Delux rooms and 4 Heritage Suites. Suite rooms stand at edges possessing stunning window view of mountain scenery and are the best ones to get pleasures from natural beauties. Occasionally, German author Jan Phillip Sendker intentionally comes and takes a long stay in one of these two rooms. Each Delux room is priced at MMK 115000 per night for local guests and at $ 120 for foreign guests. And Suite rooms, MMK 140000 and $165 for local and foreign guests respectively. Downstairs of PINE includes Heritage Bar, Sisson's restaurant and gift shop.
ACORN
Older one in the two colonial buildings, constructed in 1903. No revapment has been made to the building, keeping it the same as it was built. Especially foreign guests prefer the building and usually stay by prebooking. 15 Superior rooms are housed, each priced at $100 for foreign guests and at MMK 90000 for local guests.
TUDOR
Latterly built two story building that has not turned hundred . This white building features 18 Classic rooms each with the price of MMK 6500 for local guests and $ 75 for foreigners.
The three buildings --- PINE, ACORN and Tudor --- provide 45 rooms in total. All the rooms are embellished in Europe style, giving guests a feeling as if they are in a West's hotel and a breath of colonial period. Not every room comes with an air-conditioner but with old-fashioned ceiling fan. Sisson's restaurant serves breakfast and dinner to guests with delicious West, Myanmar and Chinese foods. Not only the hotel's guests, even outsiders often come and have breakfast in the restaurant. Heritage Bar next to the restaurant is decorated with antique farmhouses and it is here where you can have coffee or chooseable and reasonably priced cocktails. In front of the bar is gift shop to buy souvenirs.
LOVER'S TREE
There is one more attractive place in the hotel's compound, 'Lover' s tree' , a pair of conifer and banyan trees aged over hundred years. No guest, local or foreign, would come back home without taking a photo with the trees.
So, for those who long for getting a feeling of colonial period and who want to cerenly stay in a proper place, Kalaw Heritage hotel is the finest to fulfill your needs.

There have been developing hotels remarkably to invest in the cool city of Kalaw. Among these hotels, I would like to introduce Green Valley Motel which is recently opened and constructed as a standard hotel.
Green Valley Motel is created to be harmony with the name Green Valley and it is built as Bungalow plus colony style. The idea of hotel owner makes the visitors enjoy the admiration of nature and colony culture.
Green Valley Motel is situated on Nyaung Pin Thar Street, 7 Ward and it is built on two and half acres of land at the valley. It takes only 10 minute-walk from toll gate at the entrance of Kalaw. The significant feature of this motel makes the guests who would like to stay individually or those who would not like to huddle together very pleased.
Each Bangalow is made up of concrete and coniferous wood is also one of the significant features of Green Valley. And also there are three kinds of superior rooms and the cost is 35000 kyats per a night.
The rooms in each Bangalow are so wide and are decorated that the guests can feel active and alert as soon as they enter into the room. And they can enjoy the cool indoor room for the whole day as inside of the room is made up of coniferous wood. Besides, there is also placed Bathtub in the bathroom as well as the decoration is made in order that the guests can enjoy sky-view while dipping in the bathtub.

Written by TunTauk
Deputy Minister for Hotel and Tourism U Tin Latt said that it needs to provide traditional Myanmar massage service in the breeze under the shadow of Tamarind tree at Bangan and Meikhtilar.
On 12th January, deputy minister addressed this issue in the report on the implementation of regional tourism work committee in Yangon Region.
“The art of traditional Myanmar massage should be brought out because it has been for many years. Tourism Industry should be attracted with the traditional massage. For example, at Bagan and Meikhtilar, it should be provided traditional massage service while sitting on the bamboo-chair in the breeze under the shadow of Tamarind tree” he added. In Myanmar, the art of traditional massage has been since time immemorial and so measures are to be taken to develop the art of traditional massage. And he said, if this service is given in line with the style which can be seen inside, but not enclosed room, he will give permission to perform this service.
In the neighbouring country Thailand, Spa Tourism becomes a thriving business and earns a great deal of money.
Now, there are a lot of people who learn the art of Thai massage and Japanese traditional massage, but there is still rare to learn traditional Myanmar massage. So traditional Myanmar massage becomes disappeared, he said.
