Deputy Minister for Hotel and Tourism U Tin Latt said that it needs to provide traditional Myanmar massage service in the breeze under the shadow of Tamarind tree at Bangan and Meikhtilar.

On 12th January, deputy minister addressed this issue in the report on the implementation of regional tourism work committee in Yangon Region.

“The art of traditional Myanmar massage should be brought out because it has been for many years. Tourism Industry should be attracted with the traditional massage. For example, at Bagan and Meikhtilar, it should be provided traditional massage service while sitting on the bamboo-chair in the breeze under the shadow of Tamarind tree” he added.
In Myanmar, the art of traditional massage has been since time immemorial and so measures are to be taken to develop the art of traditional massage. And he said, if this service is given in line with the style which can be seen inside, but not enclosed room, he will give permission to perform this service.

In the neighbouring country Thailand, Spa Tourism becomes a thriving business and earns a great deal of money.

Now, there are a lot of people who learn the art of Thai massage and Japanese traditional massage, but there is still rare to learn traditional Myanmar massage. So traditional Myanmar massage becomes disappeared, he said.
